As the legacy restaurant for Mac Haik, this project had to be a show-stopper. A large team was assembled, including Architangent for architecture, Gin Design Group for interior design, KPK Lighting to set the mood, and Forney Construction for the tenant build-out. Over the course of two years, our teams worked to design and document the second generation space inside an office tower in the energy corridor. What started as a request for a patio dining area quickly evolved into a separate 1500 square foot enclosed sunroom with multiple skylights. The core and shell was constructed by EE Reed while the interiors were performed by Forney. The main dining rooms are just as lavish, with a dedicated lounge, booth and open seating and a smaller private dining room for intimate occasions. Mac Haik memorabilia and references are sprinkled through the space, including a large astrodome-inspired light fixture in the entry. The connection with the office lobby and existing restrooms was coordinated with the office renovations by the HOK team. The multiple drawing packages and extended timeline made this project complex but still fast paced. The result is a beautiful intimate restaurant that delights diners across the city.
